Carmody & Jones Play The Comedy Box With Tara Flynn – Big Noise

We’re delighted to announce that we will be opening for the divine Ms. Tara Flynn when she performs her 2010 Edinburgh Show “Tara Flynn – Big Noise” at The Comedy Box, Sheehan’s, Chatham Street, Dublin 2 on Wednesday November 10th at 9 pm.

We’ll be playing a selection of tasteful numbers as well as some of our own, including tracks from our current digital release “The Morale Will Continue Until The Beatings Improve” (available for download on iTunes & Napster).

Some info about Tara from her web site (www.taraflynn.ie):

Tara began her career in Dublin in 1990, working extensively as an actress in theatre, radio and TV. Since moving to London, she’s been best known for her TV characters in Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, The Omid Djalili Show and as one of the recurring cast on Thank God You’re Here.

She played the female lead (DI Tina Mahon) opposite David Threlfall in season five of Baldi for Radio Four.
Tara’s voice featured in the Polish Soap spoof on Armando Iannucci’s Time Trumpet. One of Ireland’s top voice artistes, she is the “No new messages” voice of the O2 mobile phone network there. She went into comedy in 1995 as a founder-member of singing trio The Nualas, and joined the Dublin Comedy Improv in ’99. As a stand-up, she performed all over Ireland and at comedy festivals including Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She’s appeared on numerous TV panel/ clip shows (including The Panel Channel 10, Australia and the RTÉ version with Dara Ó Briain) as well as several for radio. She was a lead in Stew, RTÉ’s IFTA-winning sketch-show, and she played Siobhán in Hide & Seek (directed by Dearbhla Walsh – Shameless), IFTA-nominated for best TV drama. Tara played almost all the female characters in Stewart Lee’s EdFringe production of Talk Radio and took on the role of Suzy in I Do Not Like Thee Dr. Fell for the Abbey Theatre centenary. She wrote and starred in Ma, Pa and Dangerous to Know for RTÉ Radio 1, and has been a regular columnist for both the Evening Herald and Irish Independent.

Live work to look out for includes Songs (Tara sings with Damian Coldwell and Charlie Round Turner) and The London Comedy Improv – sketches with Brendan Dempsey and Rufus Hound.

The Comedy Box

The Comedy Box is a recently-established comedy venue in the upstairs room at Sheehan’s Pub in Chatham St, Dublin 2 with the aim of giving established acts a chance to do a longer show than is normally possible in the context of the local stand up clubs.
